If you'll be driving in Ontario, and plan to use your phone, make sure you are set-up for hands-free talking. No texting or emailing or messing with your GPS is allowed either. http://news.ontario.ca/mto/en/2009/09/ontarios-new-rules-for-hand-held-wireless-and-entertainment-devices.html
And, U-turns are allowed basically everywhere unless there is a sign specifically stating they aren't allowed (or a few other considerations). This is something you really have to get used to because people do it everywhere. It can easily catch you off guard when the person in front of you stops to turn somewhere where there is no street to turn on to. Keep you eye out! It is often convenient especially in Toronto where many streets don't allow left turns.
